SWEDEN’S  SELF-EMPLOYED RESIDENCE PERMITS

Sweden has enacted investment-based immigration programs designed to encourage skillful businesspeople and entrepreneurs to relocate to the country. Foreign nationals who are seeking to establish businesses in Sweden may qualify for the country’s Self-Employed Residence Permit (SERP). In order to qualify, foreign nationals must prove that they possess significant experience in their field of expertise and past experience in running their own businesses. Additionally, they must also have demonstrable proficiency in the Swedish or English language, prove that they will be running the business in Sweden and will own at least half of the commercial enterprise, show how the commercial enterprise’s goods or services will be sold in Sweden, and possess sufficient money to support themselves and their families during the first two years of their stay in Sweden.
Finally, they must also show that after the initial two-year period, the commercial enterprise will support them and their families.

SWEDISH PERMANENT RESIDENCE PERMITS

After living in Sweden for five years, the foreign national and family are eligible to apply for permanent residence permits. After five years of permanent residence, they will be able to apply for Swedish citizenship. Interested foreign businesspeople are encouraged to contact knowledgeable attorneys to assist them with their SERP applications.

STEPS & PROCEDURES

In order to obtain Sweden’s residence by investment, the applicant must fulfill the following terms

Sweden Citizenship by Investment program

  • Present proof of ownership of at least 50% of the corporate in which he wants to invest.
  • Provide a statement of expected profits within two years, being enough to cover the applicant and his family’s residence and expenditure in Sweden within two years. this period is called Testing Interval.
  • Provide evidence that you have a minimum amount of SEK 200,000 to support you and your family.
  • You must be fluent in Swedish or English, achieving level 4 in the IELTS exam.
  • Your passport must be valid for at least two years in advance.
  • You must have experience certificates relative to the field in which you wish to invest.
  • It will take a period of 8 to 11 months for your application as an investor in Sweden to be processed by the government. After which it is either accepted or rejected based on security check and other government criteria.
  • After registering your company, you can obtain a temporary residence permit for one year at a time. You can bring your family (husband and children under the age of 18). Each of them will be able to obtain a residence permit as well.
  • After you arrive in Sweden and start managing your business successfully and have it profitable enough to cover full expenses of you and your family living with you in Sweden, you can apply for a permanent residence permit after 24 months from the first day you started your work In Sweden.
